On Wednesday the 4th of march we met with representatives from the Ardenne Blue Greyhound association, a member of Greyhound Ethics. They brought us some 200 kilos of animal feed and many dog-coats. They then went to visit Marie Angeles in Badajoz and returned with two dogs who were reserved for adoption in Belgium. They had also found a fantastic adoptant for our own dear Magui. However there was a small problem, who would look after the three hounds for the 24 hours prior to their departure for Belgium? The solution came in the form of Andrea, an expert in adoptions (already ‘adoptive mother’ to a Podenco and a Galgo) who was able to immediately take charge of the dogs. What wonderful photos and what a super letter received from Andrea the day after the dogs departure! Andrea’s Letter Today I feel particularly strange. Last Friday foster homes were confirmed for 3 dogs who came to me in Madrid on Saturday to then fly on to Belgium the following day. Magui, a precious little greyhound arrived at about 1pm. Later on around 6 pm Dumbo arrived, a huge, calm and very docile greyhound accompanied by Felix, the most mischievious out of the three dogs. All the dogs came from the hands of Sandra Baas, a truly incredible woman. It was all very easy and very natural between them and my own 2 dogs. Together the dogs established their own limits without any agression. We spent a very interesting and intense weekend, not because of any problems with the dogs, but because of knowing that they would only stay with us for 24 hours and then leave for their permanent homes. The house was full of dogs, 5 in total who took possession of the chairs and the sofas!! We had to move them to sit down but they didn’t ‘argue’. In all honesty, they were so gentle and endearing that we just wanted to sit with them!When they left, even after such a short time with us, we felt a great emptiness ...it’s very difficult to explain but these dogs have a way of capturing your heart at the first glance.. Bye bye, ‘Little Ones’ - I wish you all a long life full of peace and happiness.
